Project: Silk Mill Level Crossing Client: Network Rail
Silk Mill level crossing was located about 500 yards west of Taunton station. It was a MCB (CCTV) crossing supervised from Exeter Signalling Centre. The project involved recovery of the level crossing following replacement by a new over-bridge. Norton Fitzwarren Junction is located about 1000 yards west of Taunton station. It is the junction to the private West Somerset Railway. The original signalling for the junction was for non-passenger moves using shunt signals. The project involved resignalling the junction to passenger standards and provision of token working between the junction and the West Somerset Railway signal box at Bishops Lydeard. The resignalling was made economically viable by the capacity created in the signalling system by the closure of Silk Mill crossing. DEG Signal Ltd was commissioned to provide the high level design works including scheme plans for Approval In Principle by Network Rail. « Back to Portfolio Page |
