Project: Frankley Branch Line Client: Faber Maunsell The purpose of the study was to identify and cost the infrastructure provision required to re-open the former railway line between Halesowen Junction, Longbridge and Frankley. This included identifying the risks associated with the proposals and providing a programme for the design and implementation. The study included considerations of how the rail line would pass through the MG Rover railway sidings at Longbridge and how any effects on the operation of the rail activities at the works could be minimised or eradicated. The study also included all permanent way, signalling, structures and overhead line equipment to permit the line to re-open. Due to the double track requirement, the line had to be single track and bi-directionally signalled. The study considered two options. Firstly the single-track branch would terminate to the south of Rubery Lane with a park and ride site to the north east of the station. Secondly the single-track branch would terminate to the east of Arden Road with an intermediate station to the south of Rubery Lane and a park and ride site to the north east of the station. A park and ride facility would also be provided at Arden Road. This option would require a level crossing at Rubery Lane. « Back to Portfolio Page |
