Project: Bedford to Bletchley Resignalling Client: GE Transportation Systems Ltd
The line from Bletchley to Bedford is about 16 miles long and is predominately double track. The signalling on the branch was Absolute Block with mechanical signal boxes situated at some stations along the route. As well as being block posts, some of the signal boxes operated level crossings. In addition, there were several non-block post gate boxes at stations and other locations. There were also several automatic crossings. Control at either end of the line was by power signal boxes at Bletchley and West Hampstead. The signalling consisted mostly of semaphores and was life expired. The line was not fitted with AWS or TPWS. The principal objectives of this project were to replace life expired and outdated equipment, provision of TPWS within the required time-scale and centralisation of operation within a single control centre. DEG Signal Ltd was commissioned to provide the high level design works, such as scheme plans and control tables for Approval In Principle by Network Rail. Detail design of lineside locations was also undertaken. « Back to Portfolio Page |
