The project objective was to investigate works for the design and upgrade of the infrastructure to allow 12-car units comprised of 2 x 4 class 465’s and 2 x 2 class 466 units to operate on the Dartford (via Sidcup and Bexleyheath), Sevenoaks and Hayes routes thus allowing significant increase in capacity for a part of the Kent Network which is currently operating at full capacity. The routes are expected to have a rising demand in commuter growth in the next twenty years and there is already a high level of latent demand.

DEG Signal Limited were commisioned by Mouchel on behalf of Network Rail to carry out site investigation and correlation works to enable the production of signalling GRIP4 deliverables for Approval-in-Principle.  DEG produced Signalling Scheme Plans, Final Project Specifications, Signalling Overrun Risk Assessments, Outline Testing Strategies and Signal Sighting.  DEG worked in conjunction with other engineering disciplines to provide a complete engineering package.  This included telecoms, civil engineering and permanent way.
